About Edmonton Korean Canadian Women's Association

Immediately after its establishment on February 5, 2005, a law was enacted and registered as a non- profit organization.

In the early days, the women's association raised tens of thousands of dollars in construction funds to help the poor Korean association , and concentrated on actively cooperating with each event, such as the Korean association's bazaar.

However , the executives who thought that developing a strong women's association was the way to help the divided Korean and Korean society began to focus more on the inner workings of the women's association.

The Women's Association understands the unhappy and lonely plight of immigrant women, and has expanded the work to improve women's welfare and support their children and parents. In order to show the diligence and sociability of the Korean people to the mainstream society, we continue to provide lunches for homeless people and provide food banks.

The 6 o'clock news was reported on Edmonton 's leading global TV , highlighting the volunteer work of the Women's Association in the mainstream and Korean communities . The women's association , which started with 16 members and has grown to 100 members, provides benefits to 6,000 Koreans a year and members of the mainstream society.

The Edmonton Korean Women's Association was recognized as a model organization by the Canadian Korean community and, together with the Vancouver Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Hanca Foundation, implemented a plan to help establish women 's associations in western cities and in each Canadian city.

Founding Purpose

1. Improving women's quality of life and providing welfare services for their children and parents.
2. Women's Association helps any group or individual when they need help.
3. Promote friendship and welfare of members.
4. Contribute to cultural exchange between Korea and Canada.
